So I just thought that this was sort of a funny thing to point out. I check my web statistics pretty much every day and I have noticed that my hits are WAY higher during the week than they are on the weekend. To me, that means that all of you are reading this blog and (most likely) planning your weddings at work. This is no shocker or anything but I wanted to let you know (and you know who you are ) that you are not alone. So how about a little poll, who is planning their wedding or planned their wedding from their offices? Any tips on how not to get busted by your boss?

Not only did I plan my entire wedding in 2 1/2 months, 75% of it while at work, but I also printed my invitations, reply cards, and programs using the high quality printers there! (With permission of course, and supplying my own paper!) My processer speed and internet connection is SO much better at work, I could access multiple pages at a time while still “getting work done”. Needless to say, my production has gone up significantly after getting married 3 months ago.

Word of advice to not get caught- Keep lots of windows open! And don’t leave Wedding Bee or Unbride open in your tray in the bottom, keep it hidden behind another Explorer/Foxfire tab!

    Good luck!! :)

Haha – ALT+TAB is your friend. I use two monitors at work (I’m a software dev) so I keep part of my development environment right next to Firefox so I can make a quick switch whenever he walks down the hallway to talk to me.

Or… just wait until the boss goes to a meeting. Haha.

Ha, ha! This cracks me up. I like to think that I am the master at hiding online “browsing”, but I have total approval from my boss to search during my downtime during the day. Must be nice, huh?! I’ve definitely been enjoying it. It must help to be in IT. :)

Ha. Too funny! My husband and I talk about this all the time!!!! He use to talk on a really large music forum, and the only time people were on it was Mon-Friday, during office hours. The rest of the time, no one was on the forum!

Ha! I did the majority of the planning at work.

My managers were pretty cool about it though – they knew that I’d be pretty unproductive during that time so they were pretty leniant with me. As long as I finished what I had to do, it wasn’t a big deal.

My boss does the “knock as he’ walkng in” thing, so I get busted on a regular basis. He just laughs and I tell him whatever updates I’ve made. He’s ok with it so long as the work is still getting done. One thing I have learned not to plan for online while at work – WHITE NIGHT LINGERE!! Wow – i dont think i’ve ever turned so red in my life! =)

eh. 100% guilty as charged. between my “normal” full time job and my part time photo job there is no time to do ANY planning at home. But the good side is that I NEVER take my lunch, so I kinda feel like were even ;)
I am also gilty of the tabbed pages as well!

Yep. planned the whole wedding at work. Printed the programs, invites, everything with their good quality printers!
the trick….I learned what every manager and supervisor’s footsteps sounded like coming down the hall…and high speed screen minimizing was my specialty!! :) My fingers got a workout!

I just moved my whole cube set-up so nobody can see my screen. Genius!

My boss is invited so she knows I make calls and research at work – she doesn’t care as long as I get my work done. I’m loving your blog!
