I was soooo excited when I saw this on the Junebug Weddings blog because I’ve been at such a loss for what to do for our save-the-dates which really need to go out soon.
Check out this really cool concert poster-inspired Save-The-Date by Marit Hanson. This is so up our alley. Gary is a huge music fan and since a lot of our musician friends are actually going to go on stage to play songs at our reception, this seems like the perfect fit for us.

My wonderful friend and designer extraordinaire, Ellen Petty is already bursting at the seams with inspiration for our save-the-dates and invitations. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with. I’ll post with lots of updates.

I love this idea. I shot a wedding last year of two musicians with lots of details that might inspire you! They made their cupcake tower out of old records, special backstage passes for all of the friends that played that night, “ticket” invitations, and used an old amp as their card box. So I just read your entire blog at work… and I love it

I love the ideas of these save the dates. I am getting married in August so save-the-dates are on the top of my brain if not a little past due… oh well… it will all get done eventually. They are really fresh, fun, and I definitely wouldnt throw it right in the trash can like everyone says will happen.

Good luck with the rest of wedding planning, I look forward to reading all about it…

    Those are so cool!

Our Save-the-Dates were postcards. We copied images of a film strip and then took lame pictures of us holding signs (our dogs too!) in each frame of the film strip.

It wasn’t terribly original so I’m super jealous of this idea!

That’s a really great idea. I love how she printed in just black and used a vibrant envelope to make them pop. If I saw a yellow envelope like that in my mail it would most definitely peak my interest.

I LOVE this idea! I may have to steal it as well. Jen Davis (commented above) mentioned some really cool ideas too with the backstage passes and records. There are so many cool things to do with music, but sometimes it can turn out too theme-like.

Glad you love them! They were a lot of fun to do, and have been a hit! Check out the invites I just posted today—I think you’ll like them as well. ;)
