So I guess it’s best to start at or near the beginning of the wedding weekend so here goes.

Since our wedding was somewhat unconventional in nature, it seemed silly for us to do a typical rehearsal dinner at a restaurant. Plus since we were married on a Sunday and our venue was scheduled to host a wedding the day before ours, that made having a rehearsal in the late afternoon impossible. So instead we opted for a 12:30pm rehearsal with our immediate families and wedding party. It was a beautiful day out and although I was late to my own rehearsal because of an idiot cab driver and some sort of street fair going on in Georgetown, after a brief moment of ordering everyone out of the cab a few blocks away, Gary, Margie (my new MIL) and I walked the rest of the way to find some 20 or so people standing out front of Halcyon House. The wonderful wonderful Christine Godsey was kind enough to come out to run the rehearsal for us…what a load off that was to not have to try to do that myself. Yikes! Thank you so much Christine!

Brides & Unbrides, if you don’t have the budget for a wedding planner throughout the whole process, I can’t stress enough how important it is for your peace of mind to at least hire someone for the day of or for the weekend. It is one of the best investments you can make in your mental health…believe me. My head would have exploded many times over if I hadn’t had so much talent around me pulling everything together and allowing me to just enjoy myself. Seriously!!!!

Here are our friends & family waiting patiently out front. (Courtney, Jamie (in our STD shirt), Tara, Jimmy, Conroy & Burke)

I honestly have no idea what’s going on in this one but it’s VERY Kelly.

Me and my dad practicing walking down the aisle. Note the little stuffed dog that Katie got for me as a stand in for Oliver as well as the bouquet from my shower. Many of you probably know that it’s a tradition to tie all of the bows from the bridal shower onto a paper plate to make some crazy bow bouquet for the bride to carry at her rehearsal. Well, I had a fabulous shower in DC which you all remember but since most people shipped gifts to me out in LA, we were short on bows so this was a brilliant move by Katie for me to still have something to carry. It was actually very comforting to have something to grip since it was all starting to sink in at this point.

That’s all for now. I’m in DC getting ready to shoot someone else’s wedding tomorrow so it’s time for me to turn my attention away from my own wedding and onto Jo & Rob’s…but I’ll be back soon with more pictures and stories.
