Hey everyone. So I just got back to LA last night after being gone for a whole month! What did I do during the last month? Oh, nothing much…only got married, shot 6 family portrait sessions, one engagement session and 2 weddings. Yes, it was a lot and now I’m looking forward to getting back to regular life.

Last night I made Gary carry me and Oliver over the threshold of the back door to our house. Very romantic huh? He actually just sort of dragged us over but I think it still counts. Then in our first political act as a married couple, we walked down the street and voted together. This was my first time voting in the state of California and it was definitely different than voting in Northern Virginia where I’m from. I’ve always voted by machine at the local elementary school. Instead, we voted in someone’s garage by marking dots on a piece of paper. It was all very 18th century but we both felt a great sense of community with our neighbors.

Here’s what waiting in line looked like…is this a riot or what?

On a related note, The Wedding Hub blog is doing an election day giveaway of a Renee Pawele hair accessory so be sure to go leave a comment for your chance to win.

Just a reminder, you can get a free cup of Starbucks coffee and a free scoop of ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s with your “I voted” sticker. So please go vote if you haven’t already!

Hahaha, seriously, voting in someone’s garage is actually a legal form of voting?! I’ve never even heard of that! Having grown up in the capital of PA and now living in DC, I didn’t know there WAS anything other than voting machines at schools or firehouses. Crazy! I’m sure the line for the neighborhood garage is way shorter than the lines around here, though. :)

I love this new trend of incorporating hair pieces. It gives the bride another opportunity to tie in a theme or part of their personality even into their hair. Love it!

I am a big fan of the hair piece too, they are so feminine.

I voted and was so relieved that our country has voted for change. I can’t wait to get married in the year of Obama!
