I’m still sort of reeling from last night, it was just one of those rare nights that is just so much fun that you almost just can’t stand it. It was the long awaited Letters to Cleo reunion show at the Roxy in LA. The funny thing about this band is that they are the reason that Gary and I are together. You see back in the 90’s, Gary was living in NYC and was a HUGE music fan and was out at various rock shows literally every night of the week. During that time he was a fan and became very close friends with members of Letters to Cleo, who happened to be my brother, Michael and my sister-in-law, Kay. Anyway, eventually Gary decided that it was time for a change of scene and decided to move to LA in early 2002. Somehow Gary managed to convince Michael and Kay that they should also move to LA and after not too long, they packed up the family and moved. Soon after that I came to visit them in LA and met Gary and the rest is history. I could go into a long story about how exactly it all happened but that would be a different post altogether.
Anyway, everyone was absolutely stoked about this big reunion show and I even shot a few press pictures for LTC on Friday morning.

So last night we headed out early for some dinner and drinks at the Rainbow Room on the Sunset Strip. Now mind you that normally Gary and I would never be caught dead anywhere on the Sunset Strip on a Saturday night…amateur night as we like to call it. I’m just not into the barely legal crowds packing the bars and spilling drinks and dancing in front of the bar etc. etc. Give me my slanket and a netflix on the couch and I’m happy. After some dinner and socializing with the band and some super-fans, we headed over to The Roxy for the show. The place was packed and a group of about 30 friends of ours were there to see the show which was just incredible and nostalgic for all of us who used to see them play way back when.
I also met someone who is one of my new favorite people and a fellow blogger, Trent of Pink Is The New Blog who actually mentioned The Unbride on this blog today. Such a wonderful, fun guy and turns out he is my neighbor. We had some interesting conversations about what it’s like to have “blog friends” and have these sort of “relationships” with people whom you’ve never met. We both agree that it is incredibly cool! Here are a few pictures of the show that I pulled from Trent’s blog…he’s quite an excellent photographer in my professional opinion. ![]()

After the show we walked WAY down the street to Red Rock which was also packed…gluttons for punishment I guess! We did manage to snag a few beers and find the “old people section” of the bar where there was some breathing room and personal space available and hung out until closing. At one point we got to watch a big NO on Prop 8 demonstration pass by which was just awesome.
Then it was back to Michael & Kay’s house to wrap up the evening around 3am…seriously I don’t remember the last time I stayed up that late but it was all so worth it!!!
