The images capture the feeling of this wedding so perfectly, it almost feels like thumbing through your parents’ wedding album with aged & crinkled photo corners…if your parents were incredibly chic & cool when they married that is.

Zola’s vintage dress was purchased from Etsy at Vintage Castle, while the yellow 1960’s-style bridesmaid dresses were JCrew but purchased on Ebay. Derick & his groomsmen wore baby blue linen suits.

I can’t even tell you how tickled I was when I received this adorably delicious wedding from Michelle Hayes. It is just so perfectly simple, sweet, fun and has such a great sense of humor…if weddings had feelings anyway. I fell in love with it immediately and wished that I had been there myself.

In complete opposition to “Question One” we would like to feature the gorgeous wedding of Laura and Susie. They were married in Portland Maine this Fall, prior to the passing of Question One.  We actually saw this wedding in two places, So You’re Engayged and on Brooke Schwab’s blog.

From Brooke Schwab, who photographed the wedding: “This wedding was sweet and beautiful!  Laura and Susie two met 6 years ago through a job and fell in love quickly. They moved to maine to work and knew that this is where they would be married. These two were fun brides and I learned that it sure does take a lot longer for two brides to get ready. We shot along the coast of maine and in a national forest prior to the ceremony and it was beautiful (minus the rain). The reception was held at a beautiful home with an attached barn where they had an early dinner with friends and family. This misty wedding day was a beautiful affair.”

Here are some details from Lydia: Luke and I met in Ketchum, Idaho, at a local watering hole called The Casino, in Feb 2003. Luke was born and raised in the Sun Valley Area. I moved to Sun Valley in 1996, from Seattle, where I was born and raised. He proposed on Christmas Day, 2007.

While we were planning our wedding, I wanted a small destination wedding.. somewhere tropical with our families. Luke was very passionate about having a large wedding with all of our friends and family. Growing up in such a small community, everyone becomes family- it’s very unique and special. So we decided to have a big, yet intimate wedding in Hailey, Idaho. Our wedding had 250 guests! Luke and I both wanted to have a mellow wedding where everyone felt comfortable and welcome. We decided to have an outdoor garden ceremony and BBQ style wedding at a private residence- his families properties. I did not want a wedding planner, we both wanted it to be very personal and homemade. It was fun meshing both of our personalities together into this wedding. I like pretty things, and he is a total skater boy.

Luke’s mom, sister, Luke, and I  planned the entire event. There were so many little details.. here are a few:
• Luke designed custom skateboards for his groomsmen. He drew two love birds with two hearts and had our names, wedding date, and location printed on the decks.
• My wedding rings were rubies and diamonds- I wanted rubies because it is Luke’s birthstone.
• I am half Japanese, so we handed out white Japanese paper fans to guests. On the dinner tables, we had fuscia and orange paper fans for decorations along with blue vases with colorful flowers for centerpieces.
• Our officiant, Luke’s best friend since infancy and best man, read our vows out of a Thrasher Magazine. Neither one of us are religious, and Thrasher is Luke’s “bible”.
• The old turquoise truck in the pictures in Luke’s “man truck”. He is kind of an old soul and loves old things. He wanted to include it in the wedding to get a real “Idaho” feeling.
• We had 8 ‘angels” in our wedding. These were 7 boys who are very close to us and who we love very much- they ranged in ages 4-10. The 8th angel was our dog, Satori, our giant love-able Malamute/Husky.
• For the cocktail hour before the wedding, we had drinks and appetizers available. We set up “mini living rooms” all around the property for guest to mingle with- BEAUTIFUL! Just imagine being in the mountains, blue skies, rugged terrain, aspens, wildflowers, and just chillin with a yummy drink and snack!
• We both aren’t crazy about cake, so we decided on cheesecake! We had a cheesecake bar- toppings included fresh raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries.. All locally grown in Idaho.

“Cristin & Harper’s wedding was an honest and true reflection of who they are as individuals and as a couple. Creative, spontaneous, playful, funny & original. It started raining in the middle of the ceremony…. so appropriately ironic… and Harpur, being the outspoken guy that he is, asks the pastor if he can just “get to the important stuff” sending the crowd into an outrageous laughter. It was perfect. And as they were exiting the ceremony, the rain subsided and a rainbow came out. I don’t know too many couples who get a rainbow on their wedding day… that HAS to be a good sign.

Cristin is probably the only bride who I have ever known to have a dog in her lap throughout the course of most of her day. That cute little chihuahua you see in a lot of these images is her sweet little dog, Tom. He’s a charmer. She has a huge heart for animals and even a couture gown couldn’t come between her and Mr. Tom.

Basically I feel like I could go on and on about these two, their day, their wonderful families and rad friends, but I suppose I will let the images do the talking. One thing I will say, these to know how to throw a killer party. The band these two had at their reception was the most amazing 80’s cover band I have ever seen, the Spazmatics.”

Okay here it is…I’ve been waiting all week for this.  I had the pleasure of meeting Belinda a couple of months ago when she styled a shoot I did with Kirstin Fox of Castle Bride Couture. I had recently received my own wedding video and I decided to play it for everyone. Belinda loved it so much that she decided to hire our videographers, Monachetti and even ended up getting some inspiration from my flower girl outfits as well. She had already booked a photographer and although I was a little bummed at the time, now I know that she made the best possible choice in the very talented Duke Khodaverdian who captured the style of the event flawlessly. I’m so in love with these images and believe me, I’m tough to impress.

I asked Belinda a few questions about her gorgeous wedding…

Did you have a theme for your wedding? What was your color palette?

Hollywood Glam, Vintage 1930’s
Chocolate, Champagne, Blush Pink & Green

What words would you use to describe the style of your wedding?

Glamour, vintage, organic, fun, unique, simple yet elegant.

Where did you find inspiration for your detail elements?

I think Union Station itself was an inspiration. We both loved the architecture of the building and the fact that it was a place where soooo many people, from different walks of life came through on a daily basis really inspired us to have our reception there. This represented culture & diversity which we both love and celebrate in our lives. The Union Station, built in the 1930’s had so much charm and elegance to it. All we had to do was pull from what was already there and add some of our style to it. Our invitations looked like old train tickets. The chocolate and champagne colors came from the reception room itself. Blush pink was the color of my wedding dress. The green is for the organic, raw feel which we love and wanted present in our wedding to represent nature. Old black & white films, Marilyn Monroe, and bringing back a classy era with a twist of modernism & simplicity. Later it dawned on us…it’s a “Union Station”…
