Isn’t wedding gown shopping the most fun part of wedding planning? Maybe we don’t all agree on that but I thought it was an absolute blast! Aside from the venue, your wedding dress may be one of the most important decisions you make to help set the tone for your wedding. Once you have your dress, you basically know what the style of your wedding will be.

So when you hit the gown shop circuit, don’t forget to visit Priscilla of Boston. Why do we love them? Because they have such a range of gorgeous wedding dresses that are sure to please brides from the romantic to the traditional to the vintage to the sassy. We pulled a few of our favorite gowns to feature today.

The Laeticia gown (on the left) by Melissa Sweet seems very eco-Goddess to me. And the Jules gown (on the right) from The Vineyard Collection is just so chic it makes my head want to explode.

I also wanted to show off some of these great short dresses because what is more unbride than kicking the big dress to the curb and going with a great short frock? If you have great legs, why not show them off?

(Left the Minnie dress by Melissa Sweet, Right Platinum Style 292)

And perhaps my favorite dress of all of these…although I may be a little bit biased was worn by my bride from this past weekend. Billie by Melissa Sweet.

Even better in real life than it is on the model, I think…thank you Kristen for being a fabulous client and a perfect Unbride!!!

Okay Unbrides, here’s your chance to pick up an awesome birdcage veil at a fraction of the price. My good friend Kirstin of Castle Bride Couture is currently hosting a sample sale to clear some inventory. I wore one of these awesome numbers for my own wedding…specifically the Marilyn veil.

I know, I know…I can’t even watch the Golden Globes without imagining which of those fabulous gowns might be suitable as a wedding dress. I saw plenty of paler colored dresses on the red carpet this year that could certainly do the job…but here are my top 3 picks.

My favorite of the whole night was Drew Barrymore. Sometimes she gets it completely wrong but this time she really nailed out in this gorgeous nude Atelier Versace with crystal embellishments. So so gorgeous!

I also adore Emily Blunt in this wispy pink D&G number…it sort of reminds me of the Reem Acra goddess gowns we’ve been seeing on brides over the past few years…but the pink color makes it fresh & new.

I thought Kate Hudson looked the most bridal in this white Marchesa. I like how it’s quite structured but her hair just didn’t do it for me. Still, it would make a lovely wedding dress.

Who else rocked my world?

Marion Cotillard looks like royalty in this Christian Dior!

Diane Kruger looks like a beautiful flower in this Christian Lacroix.

January Jones channels Audrey Hepburn in this amazing black ruffled Lanvin gown.

I also thought that Helen Mirren looked absolutely divine but I couldn’t find a picture of her…what gives?

What do you guys think, who was your favorite? Would you consider wearing a couture designer gown instead of a traditional wedding dress?

If you’ve never visited Bravo Bride, you’re missing out. What is it, you ask? BravoBride.com is an online marketplace where brides, newlyweds and wedding vendors can buy and sell new or pre-owned wedding items. When I first discovered this site, I immediately bought a never worn hair ornament by Twigs & Honey at a major discount and I literally wear it all the time. You can literally find just about anything on the site though; wedding dresses, jewelry, shoes, favors, reception items etc. etc., you get the idea.

Some current offerings include a Vera Wang gown listed for about 1/3 the original price and a Tiffany & Co. wedding band (usually $1200) listed for $650.  They also just launched a new Bravo Bride boutique section for wedding vendors to sell their own discounted items.

So head on over and have a look…you never know what kind of amazing deal you might find. And if you ever need a good laugh, be sure to check out their blog, which features daily funny and awkward wedding photos!

Here’s a cute picture of Susan & Mark, the faces behind Bravo Bride…how adorable are they!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting photographer Kevin Wynn at a Los Angeles photography (PUG) party last month. After snooping around on his blog, we fell in love with one of his brides and weddings. Kelly has so much grace and reminds us of a modern day Katharine Hepburn. And that dress, I am speechless. Breathtaking and definitely unforgettable. Thank you so much for sharing, Kevin.

verawang

I would be this dress. With one of my girlfriends back in DC currently planning her own wedding (she’s the last of 6 of us from high school to tie the knot), I can’t help but comb wedding gown designer websites and imagine what I would wear if I were to do it all over again. I just stumbled on this amazing Vera Wang and it made me want to cry. It reminds me of a delicate paper orchid and I wish I could plan a whole wedding around this dress. I love the deconstructed quality and the asymmetrical neckline and the almost sloppyness of the bow on the shoulder. If you are a bride and are going to wear this gown, for the love of god, please send me your wedding pictures.

If I was having a winter wedding, I would totally wear this wedding coat by Vera Wang, it makes me die inside just a little bit and long for the days of wedding planning gone by.

Hopefully those of you who are planning your weddings will be able to take a few days off from the madness and just enjoy some time with your families. That’s what we’re going to do as well. So we’ll be on vacation for at least the next few days if not longer. :) But check back soon for more unbride goodness!

I wonder how many brides out there have the guts to wear their glasses on their wedding day? Seems like everyone’s wearing contacts these days but I was delighted to shoot the wedding (along with my pals from SOTA Dzine) of my good friend Lisa Loeb back in January. Not only did she wear this totally adorable pink gown by Amsale but she also wore the glasses that she’s so well known for. And just yesterday she launched her own line of eyewear through Classique. Perfect for all of you Unbrides who just want to be yourselves, glasses and all.

Happy Black Friday all of you Unbrides! While you’re recovering from post-Thanksgiving exhaustion, what a great time to shop from the comfort of your own home. I don’t know about the rest of you, but there is no way I’m getting anywhere near any mall or retail shopping area today. Luckily there are plenty of internet sales to take advantage of including one of our favorite jewelry designers, Judith Bright. I bought bracelets from Judith as gifts for all of my bridesmaids and they loved them. I even wore one myself on my wedding day.

Judith is offering 30% off for Black Friday so be sure to head over to her site and check out her gorgeous designs. She even has cuff links (pictured above) in case you need a gift for your future husband. Just enter BLACK FRIDAY in the coupon code upon checkout for this amazing deal. Happy shopping!

If you are looking for jewelry for your bridesmaids or yourself or just great gifts for the holidays, please check out this Etsy designer. Frieda Sophie Shop, can customize a wedding order and change out gemstones to match your color scheme. They are giving our UnBride readers a 15% discount, just send an email after purchase for a revised invoice. I personally bought six pieces for Christmas gifts for family and friends. The only problem is that now I want to keep them all for myself.

To be honest, I wasn’t even aware of the amazingly talented Etsy designer, Sarah Seven until one of my brides sported one of her ridiculously ethereal, flowy, light-as-a-feather gowns at her wedding back in September. And that was it, I was in love. But the best part? Sarah Seven made all of her bridesmaid dresses as well. They are just so beautifully and subtly “unfinished” which makes them seem so much more “designer” than your typical perfectly hemmed, A-line strapless number…and just so much more interesting.

I suggest you all snatch up one of her gorgeous pieces before she becomes totally famous and unaffordable.

Les Gazelles Hand-Embroidered Mexican Dress in Purple $1800

Les Gazelles Hand-Embroidered Mexican Dress in Purple $1800

HOLY. CRAP. This dress makes me want to hop the next Mexicana flight to Zihua, renew my vows, and make out with my husband in public. BTDT…well, all except for the vow renewal and public make out sesh…and I think we flew Alaska Air. If you do decide to ‘ate el nudo en Mexico?’ Do it at Amuleto in Zihuatanejo; the thought of having to come home was enough to make me want to jump out a window. And be sure to stop by Lupita’s, where you can probably score this dress for a fraction of a fraction of the price!

Indeed…sweet and sexy, or perhaps hot and haughty. All that pink and sugary goodness, with an air of “But of Course”
